Eastern/Central Europe

- Matt & Cameron Hammon -

The Hammon's work in many of the forgotten parts of Europe is twofold:

1) They are concentrating effort on coming into relationships with artists, students and culture-makers in Budapest, Hungary, which is the capital of this small post-communist European nation and consistently leads the world in rates of suicide, ethnic violence, atheism, substance abuse and population decline. Matt & Cameron are a supporting resource, serving as worship leaders for those involved in ongoing church-planting efforts and encouragers to long-term ex-pat workers in these regions. They partner on the ground with YWAM Budapest and United World Mission. Other regional locations to which Ecclesia is connected include Prague, Czech Republic and Zagreb, Croatia.

2) The Hammons are also taking an active role in the prevention of human trafficking amongst the orphan populations of Moldova and Romania. Current initiatives, coupled with advocacy and awareness, include investment in transitional housing for orphans who age-out of the state run system at the age of 16 and become sitting ducks for traffickers. Partners in this important work are Oleg and Marina Reutki of New Hope Moldova, based in Chisinau.

Argentina

- Pastor Marcelo Robles - Iglesia La Mision -

Marcelo has become a great friend of Chris Seay and the leadership team at Ecclesia.  Marcelo is native to Argentina and pastors a community in Buenos Aires facing dire circumstances of poverty.  In the area the church resides, unemployment consumes roughly 90% of individuals, creating meager opportunities for work for those in the church and the rest of the community.

In partnering with the church in Buenos Aires, and with Marcelo’s leadership, we have seen exciting opportunities for folks to find work through various micro business endeavors.  The Ecclesia Bible Society lead out in this work working with artisans in the community to craft leather covers for the Voice New Testament as well as recycled paper journals and other goods to sell.  The community has since taken on projects such as selling refurbished electronics and manufacturing laundry soap.  God is working in very creative ways through the perseverance of these brothers and sisters in Argentina.
